What Is the Desert Biome?

When you see a desert on television or in movies, it’s probably shown as endless miles of sand and camels. Characters are often lost and in search of shelter from the extreme heat. While this may be true in some deserts, it is not the case for all of them. Deserts can come in all temperatures and landscapes.

What they do have in common is one thing: very little rain! In fact, a desert can be defined as an area with no more than 10 inches of rain per year.
